Re-engagement Credit Programming

Ed-Vance
Focus: Ed-Vance is an accelerated credit program for students aged 18-20 who are returning to complete their Ontario School Secondary Diplomas. Class scheduling differs according to service delivery site; however, students can earn up to 12 credits per school year. Students generally transition to post-secondary education, employment, or apprenticeship.

Eligibility:

Levels: A minimum of 5 applied or academic secondary credits (grade 9/10 level applied or academic; minimum grade 9 level or equivalent English required)

 

Cost: No cost (textbook and administrative fees may be charged depending on site)

Distance Education Co-op Options

Ed-Vance Online Co-op
Focus: Ed-Vance Co-op is also part of the Ed-Vance program. Students can earn up to six credits in one semester while working full-time. Course work is done online, allowing for minimal disruptions to work schedules.

Eligibility:
 

Levels: A minimum of 5 applied or academic secondary credits (grade 9/10 level applied or academic)

Cost: No cost (textbook and administrative fees may be charged depending on site)

City Adult Learning Centre


18 – 20 Program
Focus: This program is designed to meet the needs of students continuing or returning to secondary education. It offers students the opportunity to earn two (2) full credits every nine weeks in a variety of multi-level course offerings. Each campus offers specific courses to meet community needs. Students can obtain credits in order to complete their OSSD requirements or upgrade for their post-secondary pathway.

Eligibility: Must be between 18-20 years old

Levels: Must be "credit ready" (i.e. demonstrate grade 9 level academic proficiency or higher) as defined by the service delivery agency.

Cost: Fees are dependent on service delivery site policy (tuition is not charged for credit courses, but refundable materials and other administrative fees may be charged; see links below for details)

School within a College (SWAC)
Focus: The SWAC program is a re-engagement strategy designed to aid students who have not graduated with an OSSD, are not registered, and would like to make a fresh start while completing their diploma. This program offers a college like environment while meeting learner needs.

Eligibility: Must be between 17-20 years old and have a history of interrupted high school education.
