Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) Program
Program Description
The Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) program is and adult upgrading
certificate delivered by colleges in Ontario. The ACE Certificate is recognized as
equivalent to an OSSD for adults entering college programs, apprenticeship or
employment. To earn an ACE Certificate, learners must complete a minimum of
four ACE courses, including Communications and Mathematics, with a grade of
B/B+ or higher. Learners entering college as mature students usually do not need
an ACE Certificate but only ACE prerequisite courses for their chosen programs.
Learners must complete two (2) mandatory courses – English and Math – and two
other courses based on their goals. The other ACE courses include Computer
Studies, Self Direction, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. There are also math options
that focus on apprenticeship, business or technology applications.
